APRIL Friday, April 11 6:00-8:00 p.m. - Smithfield Cultural Art Center located at 346 Main Street presents "54/40 Quilters", an African-American quilting guild. Alot of history is within the vibrant chosen colors and block patterns of these wonderful quilts don't miss out the opportunity to meet the artist and learn the messages within the quilt. April 19-27 - Garden Week in Virginia - Boxwoods have been growing for hundreds of years on the ancient grounds of the “Old Brick” Church, surviving the ravages of time, from the War of 1812, Civil War to the present. These tenderly cultivated shrubs are available to the public with proceeds going toward the upcoming repairs on the historic church. For more information call 757-357-3367.

May 8 - Fort Huger Grand Opening and Dedication Ceremony. We are proud to present our newest tourist attraction at this grand opening ceremony. This ceremony is open to the public and will start at 1 PM at the Fort.
May18 - 51st Annual Pilgrimage at St. Luke's Church - Historic St. Luke's Church circa, 1632, celebrates its 51st Annual Pilgrimage. St. Luke's Church, our nation's only original Gothic building and the oldest surviving church of English foundation in America. The event is free and open to the public. However, seating is limited. May 21 - Virginia Arts Festival presents Cantus The Virginia Arts Festival presents Cantus, America's newest full-time vocal ensemble sings with one of the freshest and most engaging sounds in choral music today. From art songs to folk songs, from Smokey Robinson to Richard Strauss, Cantus' brilliant sound, innovative programming and heart-felt singing have garnered the highest praise from critics and audiences alike. The show ill be held at Smithfield Little Theatre on Wednesday, May 21. at 7:30. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased through the Arts Festival website www.vafest.org

Construction on Church Street-Construction has started on Church Street by pass the construction by following directions listed below, plus get familiar with a public (free) parking lot that no one uses. Driving Direction
From VA Beach - Take 64 West to 664 W Exit on Rt. 17 towards James River Bridge , Turn Left onto US-258/VA-32/Brewers Neck Blvd. , Turn right onto 258S Benn's Church Blvd /VA-10W. Turn right onto US258 business/Main Street. Parking lot will be on the left just past the laundry mat and before Smithfield Cultural Center
From Richmond -Take I95 or I295 South towards Petersburg , exit onto VA-10 East towards Hopewell . Follow 10 East until you arrive at Smithfield . Turn left onto US-258 business/Main Street watch for parking sign and parking on left.
From Hampton/Yorktown - Take the James River Bridge towards Suffolk . Turn right onto US258/VA-32 ( Brewers Neck Blvd. ). Turn right onto US 258 business/Main Street
Off street parking is on the left, next to Old Fashioned Laundrymat and just before The Smithfield Cultural & Art Center (Big Beautiful White Victorian-on left) if you pass the Pilates sign (on the right) and a very small Visitor Center sign just below it (look for the pig) you've gone too far. Turn around...
Park at the off street parking visit the Smithfield Cultural & Art Center on the left (2 buildings after parking lot) and the Visitor Center (4 houses up on the right) then Laura & Lucy's. Then come on by for a cup of tea or coffee
